The Effectiveness of Plagiarism Detection Software in Protecting Intellectual Property: Testing the Efficiency of Turnitin in Detecting Plagiarism in Texts Written in Arabic

Abstract

The protection of intellectual and literary property has become a major concern for researchers and a challenge to ensuring academic integrity and adherence to research ethics. Among the measures adopted to achieve this objective is the submission of scientific articles uploaded through the ASJP platform to plagiarism detection before they are sent for peer review. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Turnitin software in measuring similarity and detecting plagiarism in texts written in Arabic, particularly in light of the flexible nature and distinctive characteristics of the Arabic language, as well as the challenges posed by artificial intelligence.
