Innovations in Photonic and Electronic Devices Made Possible by Quantum Dot Technologies
Keywords:
Quantum Dots, Semiconductor Nanocrystals, Photonic Devices, Electronic DevicesAbstract
Semiconductor nanocrystals known as quantum dots have recently become an important tool in the development of new photonic and electronic devices due to their exceptional optical and electrical characteristics. An exhaustive survey of current state-of-the-art quantum dot technology with an emphasis on photonics and electronics. Quantum dots are highly versatile due to their size-tunable bandgaps, excellent quantum yields, and outstanding stability. With their exceptional color purity and energy efficiency, quantum dots have completely transformed the field of photonics, leading to the creation of high-efficiency light-emitting diodes (LEDs), lasers, and quantum dot displays. They are essential in electronics for improving scalability and charge carrier dynamics, which leads to better performance in transistors, memory devices, quantum dot solar cells, and other similar devices. new approaches to surface modification and synthesis that improve the utilisation and incorporation of quantum dots into intricate gadget designs. Potential answers and prospects for future study are discussed, along with issues including toxicity, stability, and cost. Quantum dots have the potential to revolutionize photonic and electronic technology by allowing for the development of next-generation devices with extraordinary capabilities and performance.
