The Term Deviation in the Thought of Abd al-Malik Murtad: From Rhetoric to Semiotics

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the term deviation and trace its epistemological roots in the Arabic rhetorical heritage as identified by Abd al-Malik Murtad in his writings. It explores the terms and concepts he employed to express this notion, demonstrating how he linked it first to rhetoric and subsequently to semiotics. This approach ultimately resulted in a multiplicity of terminologies referring to a single concept.
