Methodological Features and Educational Deductions in Ibn Kamal pasha’s Exegesis: The Story of yusuf as a Model

Abstract

This study dealt with the efforts of the scholar Shams al-Din Ibn Kamal Pasha (d. 940 AH) in interpreting the Holy Qur 'an, specifically his reading of the story of Yusuf, peace be upon him. It sought to highlight the features of his regenerative approach that went beyond the limits of the traditional historical narrative to cognitive, educational and deliberative analysis. The study explained that Ibn Kamal Pasha employed his linguistic, rhetorical and fundamentalist tools in depth to clarify the meanings and connotations of the Qur 'anic text. It also highlighted his firm position in praising the prophets and responding to the Israeli narratives and corrupt interpretations associated with the story of Yusuf, peace be upon him. The applied analyses pointed to the contributions of the interpreter in highlighting the dimensions of patience, chastity, willpower and resistance to psychological desires. The research concluded that Ibn Kamal Pasha's interpretative efforts represent a qualitative leap in overcoming the stagnation of the era of tradition towards diligance and criticism.
