Art education plays an important role in the development of creativity by providing learners with opportunities to imagine, experiment, communicate ideas, solve problems, and express themselves through different artistic forms. Drawing, painting, sculpture, music, theatre, craft, photography, digital art, and interdisciplinary activities can encourage learners to explore multiple possibilities rather than search for a single correct answer. This paper examines the contribution of art education to creative development, focusing on imagination, divergent thinking, experimentation, problem-solving, self-expression, collaboration, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and digital creativity. Art-based learning can create environments in which students are encouraged to take creative risks, learn from mistakes, and develop confidence in their own ideas. It can also support social and emotional development by encouraging communication and reflection. However, the contribution of art education depends on curriculum quality, teacher preparation, available resources, classroom culture, and opportunities for meaningful creative choice. The paper argues that art education should not be viewed only as training in artistic technique. It can provide a broader educational environment in which learners develop flexible thinking, curiosity, persistence, and the ability to approach problems from different perspectives. Integrating traditional and contemporary art practices, including digital media, can further expand creative opportunities for learners.
